When designing a modern kitchen along the east side of River Road in Cincinnati, Earlene Scheid had plenty of things to consider, including functionality, efficiency, and aesthetics.
Earlene initially met with both the interior designer and homeowners to discuss the renovations before the homeowners would be marketing their home for sale. They wanted to lighten the feel of their kitchen and update the cabinetry line to go with their new appliances. To help the kitchen feel lighter and more open, you want the eye to travel throughout the space.
Creating space with light colors
Earlene says the layout of the kitchen was vastly improved by opening up and removing the cooktop wall dividing the kitchen from the living space. The open concept layout was better suited to the architecture of this mid-century modern home and for entertaining large groups of friends and family.
In the kitchen, the main focal point is the custom stainless steel range hood above the pair of Calacatta Laza quartz countertop islands. The farthest back wall also features a full-height quartz backsplash. The cabinetry beneath the island countertops features Europa Maple/Apex in a painted Arctic White finish.
The second island helps to tie the kitchen into the living area and serves as a space to entertain with seating and a wine cooler-beverage center combo under the gorgeous waterfall countertops.
Around the perimeter of the kitchen, Earlene suggested the sleek look of Europa, Ultralux Southbeach frameless cabinetry in a high gloss, lustrous metallic carbon finish. Floating shelves are a must for your kitchen, displaying your favorite dishware and accessories. These floating shelves from Europa are Silver Metallic laminate and make a design statement all on their own. Brushed brass tab pulls from Richelieu were used to complement the cabinetry.
Take Advantage of the Natural light in the Kitchen
This exceptional home now offers a jaw-dropping interior kitchen that is equally as stunning as the exterior river view. With luxuriously appointed details throughout the home staging, there is so much to love about this home. The clients contacted Jo Potvin, owner of Design to Market Home Staging in Cincinnati to prepare the home for the market.
Although spacious, the kitchen now feels comfortable thanks to lightening up the wood flooring and textural details. Courtesy of the wall of window space, natural lighting floods into the interiors, helping to invite nature inside.
